Development of New Drugs, Care for Life, Implementation of Governance, Pursuit of Sustainability

Microbio Co., Ltd. espouses the core values of “integrity, innovation, and love.” We forge partnerships with integrity, pioneer blue oceans through innovation, and give back to society with love. Under a steady business strategy, we have established a healthcare domain that encompasses the four dimensions of new drug development, medical-grade health supplements, investments in biotechnology, and organic products.

Our R&D and sales teams have entered the international market with diversified product strategies based on the exclusive anaerobic symbiosis fermentation technology to maximize the value of the microecological technology platform. We have obtained the drug license for our self-developed “MICRSOY oral solution” and continue to develop new indications In 2024, in the international journal Gut Microbes, we announced that “MICRSOY oral solution” is able to enhance the anticancer effects of anti-PD-1 antibodies. In addition, we also obtained positive results on the unblinding of the exploratory clinical trial for late-stage non-small cell lung cancer completed at the end of the year. Microbio’s gut microbiome product Symbiota® also received the U.S. GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) Independent/Self-affirmed safety conclusion in 2024. This represents a significant step towards global market access for the Company’s products. Our subsidiary, Cotton Field Organic, focuses on organic and healthy brand value and aims to strengthen its omnichannel strategy (OMO, OnlineMerge-Offline) by expanding its store network. As of 2024, it operated 80 stores.

We also continue to invest resources in promoting ESG to advance towards the sustainable vision of “Healthy Life and Sustainable Co-prosperity”. In 2022, we established the Sustainable Development Committee at the Board of Directors level in order to oversee matters and implementation outcomes related to the corporate governance, environmental sustainability, social inclusion and sustainable information disclosure, thereby driving ESG management in a topdown manner and further exceeding the requirements outlined in the Financial Supervisor Commission’s “Sustainable Development Roadmap” and “Sustainable Development Action Plan.” Starting from 2023, subsidiaries included in the consolidated financial statements have been included in the scope of greenhouse gas inventory and verification. In addition, carbon emissions have been reduced through the methods of energy-saving equipment procurement for production processes, products and offices. To enhance the credibility of sustainability information, we have commissioned an independent third-party organization to verify our sustainability report since 2022. Furthermore, in 2024, we also received the “Corporate Sustainability Report Golden Award” from the “Taiwan Sustainable Energy Research Foundation”. The incessant efforts of all staff members have been recognized with four consecutive rankings in the “top 5% of the TPEx-listed category” and our third consecutive listing in the top 10% of TWSE- or TPEx-listed companies in the “nonfinancial and non-electronics industry with a market capitalization over NT$10 billion” of the annual Corporate Governance. Evaluations conducted by the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (the results of the 11th evaluations were published by TWSE in May 2025), demonstrating Microbio’s remarkable achievements in corporate governance and sustainability.

In 2022, to align with international development trends and enhance a competitive edge rooted in sustainable development, the company renamed its “Corporate Social Responsibility Committee” to the “Sustainability Development Committee” and elevated it to the board level. Through this functional committee, the company oversees sustainability affairs, reinforcing its commitment to advancing ESG and sustainable development.

Internally, the Sustainability Development Executive Committee (hereafter referred to as the Executive Committee) plays a key role in planning and executing sustainability initiatives. Chaired by the General Manager, the Executive Committee reports on sustainability progress to the Sustainability Development Committee and the Board of Directors on February 29, May 13, and November 11, 2024, and has proposed the 2025 Sustainability Development Plan.

The sustainability development plan is structured around four key dimensions: Enhancing Corporate Governance, Promoting Environmental Sustainability, Fostering Social Inclusion, and Improving Information Disclosure. Specific initiatives include conducting greenhouse gas inventories and verification, preparing sustainability reports, promoting environmentally friendly projects, participating in social welfare activities, maintaining ISO management system certifications, and advancing sustainable supply chain management.

To comply with IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, the Executive Committee has established an internal control system for sustainability information management. This system includes the “Sustainability Information Management Regulations,” the “Sustainability Report Preparation and Submission Procedures,” and the “Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Verification Procedures.” These measures were approved by the Board of Directors in November 2024, further strengthening the company’s sustainability information management system.

The Sustainability Development Committee and the Board of Directors review the Executive Committee’s proposed sustainability plans and implementation strategies, providing guidance, supervising progress, and requiring that sustainability information management be supported by a robust internal control system with effective execution.

The ultimate goal is to enhance decision-making quality, boost our corporate image, and foster long-term success.

Our 2025 Sustainability Goals have been adopted on the foundation of coping strategies for material topics and our commitment to SDGs with 2022 as the base year. These goals describe actions about to be taken by Microbio and tracking of annual implementation results through qualitative methods and quantitative indicators to foster concerted efforts by different units in pursuit of a joint goal. These efforts greatly facilitate the conversion to sustainable operations and strengthening of corporate competitiveness.

Response to SDGs

Response to SDGs

Since we specialize in the research and development of new drugs, our contributions focus on the “SDG 3: Health and well-being” dimension. However, in the process of material topic assessment, we have realized that our operating activities are closely intertwined with other SDGs. We have therefore carried out a comprehensive assessment of all operational dimensions to gain a clear understanding of the positive and negative impacts of our corporate actions on SDGs and thereby ensure conformity of our operations to SDG principles.The interconnectedness between material topics and SDGs is taken into consideration in the material topic identification process. SDG concepts are incorporated into the sustainability actions of Microbio, and strategies are formulated accordingly to maximize the beneficial effects of SDGs.
