    Microbio Co., Ltd. received official notification from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) confirming that heat-treated soyabean fermentate, its proprietary gut microbiome series of products, Symbiota, has received a Not Novel determination under Regulation (EU) 2015/2283 (EU Novel Food Regulation).Following consultation among EU Member States, the manufacturing process and compositional characteristics of Symbiota were confirmed not to fall within the scope of novel foods. From the date of determination, Symbiota is legally for market access as Not Novel food within the European Union.

Products developed using the Symbiota technology platform include Taiwan’s first approved oral new drug (MS-20) derived from this technology, as well as various functional health formulations marketed through organic retail channels. Different strain compositions are applied across multiple product lines under the Symbiota platform.
    (2)According to the FSAI Not Novel determination, Symbiota is intended for use as food or food ingredient under the following conditions:
    1. Up to 20% usage in liquid formulation
    2. Up to 10% usage in powder formulation
    3. Suitable for consumption by individuals aged 2 to 110 years
    (3)The Not Novel determination applies to organic soybean fermentates produced through the combination of multiple probiotic bacteria, yeasts, or strain mixtures. This scope covers the full range of Microbio’s proprietary microbiome products developed under the Symbiota platform.
    (4)Under the EU Single Market principle, Symbiota can be free sale across all 27 EU Member States as well as the European Economic Area (EEA). This provides broad market coverage and supports the company’s strategic expansion across Europe.
