Following the cooperation with National Taiwan University on NTU Diamond Seed Fund, Diamond Biofund signed a strategic alliance with National Chiao Tung University on November 3, 2014. The two sides will cooperate in the establishment of a Strategic Alliance Platform to promote the development of innovative technology, turning a new page in the integration of industrial and academia value chain. Chiao Tung University also held a ground breaking ceremony for the new Biomedical Building, declaring that with this multi-functional biomedical building as foundation, to build an indicative industrial-academia R&D center.
Chiao Tung University President Dr. Yan-Hwa Wu expressed that 50 years ago, the University began on semiconductor and information studies, leading Taiwan into the semiconductor and information and communication industry, creating Taiwan’s miracle. In recent years, following the upgrade and change in the domestic industry, Chiao Tung University has long been actively involved in biomedical research and development, other than signing cooperation agreements with nine medical institutes, hundreds of millions have been invested in research in the BIO ICT field.
Chairman of Diamond Biofund Inc. William Lu said, venture investments have decreased in recent years, and even if the innovative team has good original concepts, they lack commercialization experience and funds. Chiao Tung University holds a leading position in the domestic information and communication industry, playing an important role in numerous success stories in the electronic, semiconductor and information industry. In the future, Diamond Biofund will periodically engage in technical and business meetings with the university, as well as plan capital funding to effectively support the commercialization of innovative technologies and become the vital source of business startup capital for students of Chaio Tung University.
Chiao Tung University plans to integrate the university and alumni’s strong ICT assets, and cross into biomedical electronics, biomedical electro-optical, biomedical engineering, biomedical test devices, biomedical sensing, nano biomedical material, biomedical information, biomedical imaging, cloud medical care, bio energy and environment biotechnology, biochemical and genetic engineering, bio pharmaceutical, tumor immune treatment and other advantageous fields.
