IBMI Appealed to Held a Nation Affairs Conference

Since new government has already on board about 10 months, the biotechnology industry still ran behind, remaining in the slogan stage. On March 7, Institute for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry and Biotechnology appealed the government to call a nation affairs conference, deciding biotechnology industry developing direction and rebooting industrial energy.

The chairman of Microbio group company, William Lu mentioned that the most concerned issue for whole industry is that whether the government is going to development biotechnology industry? And what is the developing strategy?

Dr. Lan-Bo Chen, the chairman of CHO Pharma mentioned that, there are many kinds of developing strategies, basic environment and condition is the most important feature we need to develop the biotechnology industry. Take advanced countries such as Europe and the USA, for example, they only have single contact window and simple process. In Taiwan, by the contrast, the argument between different parties and complicated policy process were restricting the development of biotechnology industry.

For example, doing the biotechnology research needs human blood, it is the essential and basic and for many new drugs R&D program. Many hospitals in USA will provide surplus blood for biotechnology company or experimental laboratory to do the research. However, it is illegal in Taiwan, although it can be accessed through academic cooperation program, now the research become popular and more than it used to be, human blood could only depend on import, while waiting for the importing process, it also affect the efficiency of experimental research.
